District 34 Congressional Candidates Forum: Indigenous Youth, Justice and the trump tribulations 

We are honored to invite you to the Congressional Candidates Forum presented by the Student Body Council at Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory. For your participation, we ask that you prepare questions for our candidates. Before the forum, our youth will participate in an action that involves creating posters, letters and digital smoke signals addressed to POTUS & members of Congress. We encourage our teachers and staff to help.  We welcome you to join us for this activity as well to encourage our students and families to attend for extra credit - or just to help prevent doomsday.

Following the forum, Ollin Law will provide a free legal clinic for our community, which you are also welcome to join.  

UCLA Barrio Service Learning interns start this week.

AIUP Bulletin Week of January 9, 2017

WELCOME BACK!!

Director's Meeting Notes:

Enrollment: 380 students k-12

Facilities:
4990 Huntington - No leaks! Need rugs!! MA will secure Turf rugs in the meantime; Waiting on insurance for replacement rugs; Much thanks to parents lending us two rugs now;
4970 Huntington - No leaks! Exit door in rear needs repair; Gates do not open and close very easily; ADT on site to repair security system;
4736 Huntington - No leaks! No issues.

Emergency drills to be scheduled this week.

Programs:
1. NSLP: Breakfast to be prepared the day before upon receipt;
Staff changes: Ms. Velez will become our new science teacher in partnership with Mr. Alcala. Mr. Montes de Oca will continue to supervise the NSLP.
All staff: please review NSLP policies, protocols, and priorities as needed in preparation for the audit this month;
2. American Indian Student College Exploration Day this Saturday, Jan. 14 at UCR;
Please help encourage students and families to attend this free event. Questions?: Ms. Gonzalez
3. Soaring Eagles: Congrats on Nike Community Impact Grant Award! Over the break our students joined Ms. Ley in a 10MILE run to City Hall to support Indigenous Peoples Day in LA!
4. National Day of Action Jan. 20: Call for proposals? All staff are engaged for community action to engage in the national discourse. How should our school best engage?
